One of my happy places: Cypress Provincial Park, West Vancouver
To my dear readers: I wish you and your families a happy holiday, and joy and peace in the new year.
Writing this blog gives me a tremendous amount of pleasure. It started out as a simple love of travel and writing. It has morphed into a relationship with an extraordinary group of people. Thank you for reading my rambles. I so appreciate your likes and lovely comments. I’ve enjoyed “getting to know” you. Thanks to fellow travel and hiking bloggers who make my list of places to go/mountains to climb longer and longer. Thanks to a diverse group of bloggers who introduce me to recipes, arts, photography, life’s beauty and challenges…Your words and images inspire me.
I am grateful for a wonderful year of travel and outdoor fun with Mike, Alex, and my awesome friends. I’ve put together a collage of some of my 2016 highlights. I look forward to more travel and adventure in the new year—it’s off to Laos and Cambodia in January.
Cheers to you all—Caroline.
So nice, keep up your travels. They’re great to see. 🙂

Thanks Anita. 2016 was great and I continue to be amazed at all the beauty we have on the North American continent. We are however looking forward to exploring completely different cultures, history, and landscapes in Cambodia and Laos. We’ve had some tastes of it in Indonesia and Thailand and are very excited to head back to SE Asia.
Happy travels to you too! Caroline

Peta, I have been excitedly looking through your archives. Luang Prabang almost sounds too good to be true….can’t wait! Your post on the floating village in Cambodia looks amazing. We will be visiting Siem Reap, Battambang and PP so I’m hoping we can get to one of the floating villages. Your posts are so interesting and informative and I’m looking forward to more on your adventures in Sri Lanka, among other places. Happy New Year!

Alison, I’ve been re-reading your Laos and Cambodia posts with interest. I’ve been wrestling with whether we should keep Vang Vieng in the itinerary, as I’d also like to visit some villages north of Luang Prabang. Don’t think we have time for both. I hope we don’t get the same bus driver as you, haha. For me this is the scariest part of travel.
Yes, absolutely lets get together. Keep me posted. Best to you and Don!

Finishing off the Sunshine Coast Trail in 2017 (or at least a good chunk of it)…put it on your list my friend! And maybe that other one that we’re both scared of! Merry Christmas to you and your gang.
